I am not trying to be a crazy pill popper or anything like that l was just wondering because right now l am taking 2 vicodin a day for tooth pain but l notice after l take it 30 mins latter the intense pain comes back and l want more but l can not. l remember during my c section when l was in the hospital the nurses mention that when they give me pain medicine they usually gave it with motrin or something like that and that it would allow the pain medication to last longer between the time and help more on pain. Well if that is true than what can be taken with the vicodin so that the tooth pain relief last longer and l wont feel that l need for medicine?

There is nothing that will make it last longer,,, booze would make it feel stronger but could also end u up in the hospital. If there was something that could be put in it to make it last longer the drug companies would have done it & sold it as extended relief vicodin trust me !!

Call ur dentist & tell him 2 a day is not doing it well enough,,, he will change the Rx to 4 times a day. Hydrocodone is only effective for about 4 hours.

Asprin will. Also, Advil is better for a toothache than narcotics.

You can not take anything with Vicodin that will prolong the pain relief. You need to call your doctor that rx'd the Vicodin and let him know you are not getting enough releif from that dosage. He will either rx a stronger dose or a different medication.

l had the EXACT same problem. l feel your pain girl! My dentist started me on Vicodin but when l told him the pain was still bad, he said to take Ibuprofen. You can take up to 800mg while you are taking Vicoden.. l even got a prescription for vicoprofen (its vicodin and ibuprofen mixed). l hope you feel better :(
p.s. l found that ice packs on the side of your face works really well too.

l took Advil with the vicodin and it took the edge off a bit more, but you should call your dentist and try to get something stronger.
