l have been playing football the past couple of Sundays with my buddies.Both times my right knee has given me problems.While running to the left side of the end zone, it seemed to give out a little bit.The first time it did not hurt that much, but yesterday it was pretty bad and it continued to hurt through early today.The pain/weakness is on the outside of my knee, and it hurts to put pressure on it or bend it.Can anyone give me some insight as to what it is, and more importantly, how l can prevent it?

Please tell me u stretched before playing. Its really hard to say, whats wrong with ur knee. You might have just tweaked it or could have torn a ligament. l am guessing u tweaked it because if u tore a ligament you'd defiantly know it.(it would hurt all the time). I've torn mine twice before,tweaked it alot, & even dislocated my knee cap(hurt like hell too). My advice is ice it down(15-20 minutes at a time),flex it, & next time u play football wrap it up with a knee supporter(not brace). Supporters have more support to keep ur knee from flexing sideways.(they run bout $25, $30) If it ai not feelin better in bout 2 or 3 days(Wednesday or Thurs.)after doing these ideas then go see ur Dr.

It sounds like u have torn cartilage, perhaps ACL or medial meniscus.you need to see an ortho doctor & get some X-rays.over time, if u r not treated, u will have more pain, less range of motion, serious pain, inability to play sports, unbearable pain as u age.

Trust me, take it from someone who had a terrible knee injury, followed by botched surgery--and all at the age of 15. l was a basketball player, a cross-country runner, & l have suffered with pain every day since then.and had to give up those sports, plus l have never been able to wear heels, which should not be an issue with a guy.

Still, the pain only increases over time.and u really need to wait. My surgeon told me that the worse the pain was before knee surgery (in the case of replacements) the less the relief will be when the new knee is in place.
