l seem to hurt my ankles all of the time!!!! l wanna start jump roping, but l forsee an ankle injury in my future.several, actually!how can l prevent this? l really wanna be able to do a vigorous jump rope routine for cardio with no ankle problems.Any advice for clumsy me??

Well, l do not know if you're rolling you're ankles because you're clumsy or if there is significant muscle weakness or some other physiological problem. However, in any case, you might want to find a shoe with a lot of ankle support. Maybe even try to use sport specific footwear. Some boxing hi-tops might do the trick.

Look for exercises that will strengthen your ankles.

One exercise is in a standing position, raise to your tip toes and then lower. Repeat that a number of times. Do it every day. There are more excercises and they are in books at the library.

I've actually sprained my left ankle twice (not from jump roping), and l do jump roping as my main cardio and it is surprisingly easy on my ankles and I've yet to sprain them again from this exercise.

As long as you're wearing a good pair of running shoes or cross trainers you should not fear another sprained ankle, or any sprain for that matter.
