l am 16 years old and participate in cheer leading 5 days a week at my school. Since the 9th grade (now in 12th), l have had knee pain along with my knees cracking about 20 times a day or more. Lately it has gotten really bad, the point where l wanna cry. My doctor said that my knee cap is not gliding on the ''track'' the way it should be and that l have more cartilage on one side of my knee then the other. He gave me a brace to wear and then just sent me off. The brace does not fit very well, there are gaps in it and when l wear it, my knee hurts so much worse. He wanted to try to push my knee to the other side, trying to correct it with the brace. The brace seems to hurt worse when l wear it and l am not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be amazing.!
l am thinking about having my mom call for a second opinion. l have had x-rays done and then showed that my knee leaned towards the outer side of my leg. l have also had physical therapy for a year and that did nothing.

l would make an appointment with the doctor and have him look at it again, or even go to a different doctor.

See another doctor, the one you saw sound like he was busy and did not diagnose the problem properly. Should get some xrays done as well to check for any kind of bone problems. But take an easy on it.

get a second opinion !

l think that you should seek the opinion of a doctor who specializes in Sports Medicine. You really want to see them sooner than later to prevent more damage to the area. Good luck. Feel better soon!

l have had knee pain my whole life. My knees crack as well. l tried a brace as well & it bothered my knees as well. So l went to physio it was hard & hurt a lot but l am telling u my knees now feel amazing. Periodically they still hurt but Its usually because they r cold keep them warm so the muscles wont tighten & ache also l use Tylenol Arthritis altho l do not have arthritis l found it works the best when they r aching. If u r willing to try physio make sure u to a place that u feel comfortable with. I've gone to two places & with my experience l preferred the woman she was a lot more gentle & l did not leave with bruises. l hope that helped also try a heating pad when they ache l find it helps. You have a major problem or more than one. I'd guess an injury plus muscle imbalances, add in elapsed time and it will take piles of time and effort to fix that knee.
