l can not sleep, no matter what l try. This has been going on for a few weeks. l go to bed with hubby but lay there wide awake for like an hour and finally get up so l do not disturb him. Any suggestions? I've tried sleepytime tea and it does not help. l do not really wanna go to the doc about it either.

it means u have a million thoughts running through u mind & u have trouble sleeping --my sister has it its usually stress related..!
If there is something nagging you, finish it & go back to bed. If it is not finishable then, at least decide to do something about it in teh morning.
Go to the loo.
Do not increase tension level. As a general rule, nobody shouts at anybody at bed time. No noise. Loud kisses r fine.
Listen to soothing instrumental music, or those waterfall noises or whatever u get now.
Have a good meal
Tire yourself out.
Read a good book. A boring book is better.
Deliberately yawn, It fools ur mind, causing it to issue orders for real ones.
Do not get into politics. Responsibilities & assassins wo not let u sleep.
Drink water, go to the loo, go to bed.
Regulate the temperature to comfort level, if u can.
Pray. When l pray, l am so boring that God & l go to sleep immediately.
Meditate. Same principle.
Count sheep. This still works. Either it works, or at the millionth sheep, it is time to get out of bed.
Count down from 100 to 1. l usually fall asleep at 65. 67.66..65.6Z.ZZ.ZZZZ
Close ur eyes & create a dream.Suddenly u find ur dream taking over!
Watch a foreign, dialogue-heavy movie. Any movie ur intellectual friend suggests will work.
Encourage ur spouse to talk about his or her cousin-in-law. Your mind can not take this, & to protect itself, will make u sleep.
Switch off the lights.
Reread this hub. You will fall asleep at point 12 or 13.
Don’t nap. Napping during the day may make it harder to fall asleep, or stay asleep.

try burning lavender incence in the room for bout an hour b4 you go to bed. it used to take me till bout 12.30 1 am to get to sleep (i used to go and lay in bed at 8) but once l started using lavender l was asleep by 9.30 every night. see how that goes. i to have a partner that is asleep by 930 eveynight and gets extremely angry if l wake him after that.

Is there something going on in ur life that is worrying you? Avoid coffee or stimulants before bed, & try & spend some time relaxing or clearing ur mind. self-help meditation techniques r good. have u tried yoga or exercising?? Reading is often a good way to relax the mind. and/or a warm bath or shower before bed can often help. try camomile tea an hour or so before u go to bed, or set up a few aromatherapy burners of lavender oil around the house in the evening.. . even a sprig of fresh lavender under ur pillow, or making a dried lavender bag to put inside ur pillow.. listening to gentle music.. even getting a CD of Sea or Forest sounds - is often a nice way to end the evening & get u off to sleep. There r lots of helpful websites on 'how to get to sleep' that could help you. Take care !!!

you could try benadryl or melatonin. benadryl makes lots of people drowsy. its the main ingredient in most of the otc sleep meds. melatonin is a dietary supplement that can help regulate your sleep cycle. one of my friend is husbands tried a mouth spray that had valerian, melatonin and something else l can not remember in it and it really did the trick for him. valerian can relax you.
