Yesterday l was yawning a lot, and l noticed it hurt the lower right side of my neck. The painly slowly progressed into the upper right side of my back, so l googled it. Nobody seemed to be too worried about it, so l tried to forget about it. It quickly got worse before l went to bed. It hurt me to take normal breaths. When l woke up today l just laid there and cried for about 30 minutes. This is the scariest feeling I've had in my life. Even breathing in just a little it feels like my lungs are fighting against me, it is not like a pneumonia feeling its like the muscles in my body. Almost like I've been severely beated on my neck, back, and chest.

l am going to the clinic in a few hours, but can anybody tell me what this is? Thel found yesterday all said pinched nerves and pulled muscles, l do not think so in this case.
Thanks for the help, l really appreciate it. a little extra detail.. I am a 19 year old female. I am pretty healthy for the most part, however, l am a smoker. l do not think it is actually a problem on the inside of my lungs. It is moreso a problem with the surrounding areas.
i went to the walk in clinic, it was busy so they werent concerned at all. they made me feel dumb for not going to the ER and then told me there was nothing wrong with me, but gave me pain meds anyway. im very frustrated at this point, im not breathing any better. l get more emotional and tired as time goes by.

Sometimes the fluid coating on the outside your lungs dries, causing pain when you breath. The condition is known as Pleurisy and is usually treated with antibiotics.

You could have had a mild stroke, but diagnosis over the internet is like trying to drive while blindfolded. It is not practical in the least.

From here on out, do not take advice to stay home if u feel u should be seen. Jaw pain is often a sign of heart attack, as well as having pain in the arms or back. From here on out, take ur own advice & do not ask others. If u feel like u should see a doctor, go see one! You know ur body, u know how it feels. People cant' tell just by some typed words on here. This is a prime example how internet advice can kill.

Well, l am no doctor, but l have a few ideas.

Have u ever broken a rib? Even if it was not recent it could shift, which often puts pressure on ur lungs & makes it difficult or painful to breath.

Have u ever had athsma? That can of course make it difficult to breath or even painful, & it can develop any time.

Have u done any strenuous activity that may cause a lung to collapse? You can even collapse a lung by sucking from something too hard. My friend did it by inhaling a pipe too hard. It collapsed multiple times & he had to have surgery.

Do u have any allergies? l know l am allergic to something (no idea what) but it makes me have a reaction where my throat feels like it is tensing up. Similar to how people suffocate from a bee sting, but not nearly as bad. Could be similar because l woke up & thought l was going to choke to death.

In ur house.. is there anything like any kind of gas (propane or natural gas) that could be leaking? Airbourne particles can sometimes cause that kind of effect. Open the windows!

Sickness.. My mom had some virus.. not sure what, but it was like a cold.. but her entire face swelled up & she started to suffocate. She had to be in the hospital & people had to wear those suits to visit her. She needed no treatment but had to be contained for several days as it was contagious. No idea what it was.

l think it could be a reaction to something u breathed or ate, some minor injury, even a bruise in the area. Of course, have it checking out, & hopefully it is not the beginning of something more serious!

well, something like this can be serious, but at the same time it may not.. l wouldnt research something like this on the internet, as they seem to go for the worst case scenerio. once l had a mild chest pain, and a slight resistance when l was breathing.. the internet said l may have just had a heart attack, turns out, it was allergies.. your good with going to the doctors, so just try to relax for a little bit
