l have had a hernia operation and it has become infected - the pus coming out is yellowy and its disgusting.The doc has squeezed a lot of the pus out (so l thought) but it is still oozing like hell.l have a bandage over it which l need to keep changing.
any other ideas??

l had a hernia operation 2 years ago, l had the same thing. My doctor told me some of the oozing was normal. But its not normal for it to be infected. First off, l would sure call the doctors office & speak to the Nurse, & if possible the Doctor, let him know, so he can get u on some antibiotics..this will help heal an infection, & keep it from getting worse.
And then ask the doctor what is best, Antibiotic ointment Or possibly something else he may recommend.
But please call & speak to someone at the doctors office.

If the doctor just saw u & knows it is infected, then follow his/her directions. Frequent showers, & taking care of the wound as cleanly as possible will help. Ask very specifically how u r supposed to care for it. Take any meds he gives u as directed, & try not to touch it too much. If he does not know it has gotten worse or is infected, let him know & get an appointment. l just had major open hernia surgery & additional abdominal surgery 6 weeks ago, so l feel for you. Just make sure u keep in touch with ur doctor & do not be afraid to make an emergency appointment if u feel it is necessary. In the last 5 weeks, l showed up at the hospital unannounced & asked them to fit me in many times. Whether they can do that depends on the doctor, but if u feel something is really wrong, call or go to the ER.

Been there, done that. Does the doctor have you on any antibiotics? If not you need some. Clean the wound with peroxide and put a clean dressing on it at least 2 times a day, more often if it is seeping through. If you run a fever or the wound gets bigger or you have more than normal pain, go to the doctor. Good luck, prayers are with you.

l had the same problem as you. l went and got antibiotics and ointment. l do not have the pill name but the ointment l used is called Mupirocin 2%. Go to your GP or a family health clinic request this ointment and some antibiotics (they where big oval white ones) and follow up with them.
