So l had a severe ankle sprain last week playing basketball and the bruising on it is nasty.I've got purple and black spots poppin' up on all sorts of spots on my foot.

l got it x-rayed and know that it is not broken...just a bad sprain.

Is there a way l can reduce the bruising?The doctor said its normal...It just looks really gross.Does anyone know of something l can do expedite the healing/bruising removal?

Alternate 20 min of hot soaks with 10 min of ice, x2, daily. Its all about increasing the circulation through the area.

you should ice it with an ice pack- fill a plastic back with crushed ice and wrap it in paper towel then wrap that around your ankle using an ace bandage. or you could soak it in a slush bath by filling a bucket with ice. in both cases you just keep it on until your your ankle is numb, usually 20 minutes.
